Students in Grade 9 sit the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) Examination at the end of that year.
Capable students at their teacher's recommendation may sit these exams in grade 8.

bgcse exams
Students in Grade 12 sit the Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE( examinations at the end of that year.
Capable students at their teacher's recommendation may sit these exams in grade 11.
These include Renewable Energy, Music, Agriculture, Auto Mechanics, Plumbing, and Electronics. Students receive an S (Satisfactory) or U (Unsatisfactory) for these subjects.
